Voting Area 4: Sakamoto - Santa Teresa - Taylor

As a proud product of South San Jose, I have always valued education as the key to success. Raised in foster care, I understand firsthand the transformative power of education and how it can open doors to opportunities that might otherwise remain closed. Thankfully, my grandparents took me in during this challenging time, providing the stability and support I needed to excel in school and in life.
Having attended Almaden Elementary, Steinbeck Middle School, Gunderson High School, and San Jose State University, I have deep roots in this community and a personal connection to the schools I hope to serve.
My journey through the public education system, combined with my experience in public service and advocacy, has fueled my passion for ensuring that every child in the Oak Grove School District has the resources, support, and opportunities to achieve their full potential.
My dedication to the district is also deeply personal—my son has attended Oak Grove School District for seven years and recently graduated from Taylor Elementary in Trustee Area 4.
During COVID, I stepped in as a substitute teacher at Taylor Elementary, giving back to the community and gaining invaluable firsthand experience in the classroom. This role provided me with a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the district's schools.
I believe that by focusing on equity, quality instruction, and community involvement, the Oak Grove School District can empower its students to become responsible, engaged citizens.
I am committed to working collaboratively with parents, teachers, and the broader community to ensure that every student has access to the high-quality education they deserve.
